(CES 2009) Sony Bravia VE5 Recycled Televisions

Sony Bravia VE5 Recycled LCD Televisions

The Sony Bravia VE5 televisons are definitely headed in the right direction when it comes to eco-friendly technology.  Sony Bravias are made from recycled TV’s and they come with a couple of other green goodies as well.  All models in the Sony Bravia LCD VE5 series contain sound and motion sensors, as well as a zero-watt standby switch. If the Bravia is left alone in a room while running, the sensors will automatically turn off the tv; when a person reenters, the sensors detect that too and the Bravia turns back on.  However, if you turn the television off manually, it won’t turn on autuomatically.

The next three Sony Bravia models the Sony Bravia KDL-52VE5, Sony Bravia KDL-46VE5 and the Sony Bravia KDL-40VE5 (numbers after the dash represent the screen size of each) feature micro-tubular Hot Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (HCFL), a great energy feature that reduces consumption by up to 40%.

All in all, I applaud Sony for their eco-friendly TV’s…let’s just hope that they come at a wallet-friendly price!
